Times Square

Every time I go to Times Square there is a song playing in my head, sometimes is So Will I (Hillsong United), sometimes is I Can See Your Love (Leeland) and it can be another song that sings about God’s love. I don’t go to Times Square very often because I don’t like crowed places, but every time I go to Times Square there is a song playing my head.

Times Square amazes me. Not because of the lights, the lights give me headaches actually, but every time I am at Times Square I think of people.

Every time I am there I listen to Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and so many other languages I cannot identify. It’s a mix of the world, of languages, of culture in only one square. So these songs play in my head because I can see the beauty of God in everything He has done. I can see His love everywhere I go. I can see that there is no place too far or too broken that God cannot reach.

I can see how God’s grace is revealed in various ways. (1 Pe 4:10).

When I am at Times Square I think about people. Quoting the book None Like Him "This is what Jesus intimates when he tells us to store up treasure in heaven rather than on earth. When we invest our time in what has eternal significance, we store up treasure in heaven. This side of heaven, the only investments with eternal significance are people. “Living this day well” means prioritizing relationships over material gain.”

There are so many people to reach. There is so much impact that we can do as Christians. We have received so much. God's love has saved us, transformed us, renews us and so much more. Shouldn’t we spend our whole lives loving Him and loving people who He created?

So I think about loving people, reaching out to people, sharing to them the love that once transformed me.

Sometimes we get so busy with life and with our own problems that God’s beauties cease to amaze us. Lately my heart has been burning for loving people out of my comfort zone and loving people like God does, with no Ifs.

This Sunday when I walked in Times Square and during these days I’ve been reflecting on that.

Are we investing in what is eternal? Are we creating treasures in Heaven? Are we truly loving people? Or are we just spending time praying about what we want? Or are we just praying over people we know and love already? How much are our hearts aching for the ones who are lost?

Are we spending time trying to show them that their biggest problem is not having a relationship with the Father? Or are we just spending time judging them?

I pray that "If creation sings Your praises so will I”
